Carers Victoria came to our February 2015 weekend in Ballarat and chatted to our parents by giving the following suggestions:
An Emergency Care Kit is available from the Commonwealth Carer Resource Centre on 1800 242 636 or you can download and print from here.
The Commonwealth Carer Resource Centre will give you more information on how to fill this out or where to go to if you need help with filling this out.
You can call Carers Victoria's advisory line for assistance on 1800 242 636 - 8.30 am - 4.30 pm Monday to Friday (except for public holidays) if you are needing help on service providers and other people looking for information about carer supports and services.
Carers Victoria can come to your group and talk about a variety of topics - http://www.carersvictoria.org.au/
- Have a Care plan card in your wallet with emergency contact details
- Have a Care plan on top of your fridge in case of emergency (emergency care workers will be trained to look for these)
- Organise a personal profile for your special needs child - listing likes, dislikes, what causes meltdowns etc.
