Victorian ASD Family Weekends is a volunteer-run social network of autism families, to share holidays in a supported group setting. You do not have to have an official diagnosis for your child/ren to attend.
We help you to have a break away with a group of like minded friends who support each other and are empathic to autistic behaviours. You can join in as much or as little as you want to, but hopefully you may meet other families who live near you for ongoing friendships. I encourage new families to join us to enjoy the unique experiences that others have now enjoyed several times.
Here's how you can join us at a weekend away:
Use the form below to register your details.
Then book and pay for your accommodation directly with the venue, it is usually best to book via phone rather than online to discuss your family's specific needs.
I now require asking all families attending to fill out and bring with them an Emergency Care Kit which you can download and print from here. My family will assist in whatever way we can if there is an emergency, however, your children don't know us well and may not be happy to stay with us until arrangements can be made. We don't know their likes, dislikes, triggers, sensitivities, preferred foods etc as you or a family member would. If there is a medical emergency, I will phone whoever is your emergency contact/s to come and take care of your child/ren.
It is recommended that you consider having ambulance insurance. If there is a medical emergency you may be transported back to Melbourne. This will be costly if you are not covered.
This group is volunteer-run and I do not have insurance to cover you if you or your family are injured during the weekend.
Our second 2017 weekend will be held at the Big4 Ballarat Windmill Holiday Park on Friday 15th and Saturday 16th September. For more information and the current price list click on the event page here. We have 10 cabins to our group.
Priority will be given to new families who have not attended before.
I have just added my blog from Blogger to this site. Click on the tabs above to access it.
